Why Marel chose a centralized cloud-based template management platform
- Industry: Professional services
- Location: 30+ countries
- Number of employees: 6.000+
Marel’s accessibility priorities
Marel is one of the world’s largest providers of food processing systems, software and services. The company has around 6,000 employees, and operations in over 30 countries. They are an innovative market leader that has developed software to digitally transform traditional food processing practices. Their reputation is built on innovating, developing and supplying high-quality products and services to food processing companies. Their state-of-the-art equipment and systems help food processors of all sizes, in all markets, to operate at peak productivity.
Marel’s template and brand rollout challenge
Marel needed a centralized way to manage business document templates and brand elements that were being used throughout the organization. This became especially clear in 2016, when the company decided to re-align its brand across all parts of the organization to consolidate them under one name. The project required creating new document and presentation templates, and digital assets, to ensure that employees could use the new branding consistently. But, as Marel’s Digital Marketing Manager, Björgvin Brynjólfsson, elaborates: “We had no central way to distribute up-to-date document and presentation templates, or brand elements.”
With no way to consistently work with, or find, document templates, employees relied on intranet pages and local file drives containing various versions of the documents. This led to inconsistencies in documents and presentations that were sent to external parties, and staff wasted time finding and downloading old material to re-use for new projects. As a tech innovator, Marel knew that they needed a solution to help keep their own business processes ahead of the digital curve.
How Marel provide accessibility
Marel opted for a centralized platform where employees could access up-to-date business templates and brand elements. Their entire marketing team now has one centralized platform to distribute on-brand communication materials across international offices. Björgvin has noticed the huge impact that this has had on the way that staff produce business documents and presentations.
Templafy helped Marel achieve their brand goal of being viewed as “one Marel”. With Templafy, their marketing team can trust that employees across all offices have access to up-to-date, brand-compliant templates. Björgvin says that for him personally, “If we were to stop using an application like Templafy, it would be like going back to the stone age.”
“Templafy is really easy to use”, says Björgvin. Marel’s marketing team manage Templafy’s administration platform, which updates and deploys templates and assets. It is designed to be simple to use and administer for all teams, which is a process that traditionally required IT. For Marel, this meant that employees didn’t require training in a complex system, meaning administrators and staff found it natural and easy to use the new solution.
